Today is International Climate Action Day 24 October 2009 coordinated by 350.org and is part of our Tck Tck Tck global climate coalition campaign.
On 24 October, people in 181 countries are coming together for the most widespread day of environmental action in the planet’s history. At over 5200 events around the world, people are gathering to call for strong action and bold leadership on the climate crisis.
WWF Offices use Climate Action Day 24 October to create more awareness and showcase some great initiatives.
What will happen today as WWF Italy embraces Climate Action Day
• WWF Italy website will have a brand new home page dedicated to Vote Earth, announcing the Climate Action Day. A press launch is planned for today as a ‘support initiative’ for the CAD.
• They will start a series of screenings of the film ‘The Age of stupid’ that will take place in several schools with a ‘Vote Earth’ action in each occasion.
• They will start an initiative with teir main web-site news (La Repubblica.it) for Vote Earth linked with a special Carbon footprint ‘game’ created together with this media
• Other media partnerships will start to promote Vote Earth as well as The Age of Stupid indi-screenings
WWF Russia will announce a partnership with Google on an international Google video competition on climate change that will be launched in Russia today 24 October: http://www.youtube.com/user/cop15
They are launching the joint Position of Russian environmental NGOs (WWF, Greenpeace, others) on what they expect Russian governmen to do towards a new globla climate deal in Copenhagen December 2009.. This will be addressed to the Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev.
