Barcelona climate talks has been a ‘lost and found’ session where African nations found their muscles and pushed for ambitious targets while industrialized countries lost their political will for a legally binding treaty in time for Copenhagen.
Outside the UNFCCC process leading politicians are playing a distancing game while some slow progress was made in the areas of shipping and aviation and some treaty text was tightened.

At present I am researching the use of electric propulsion engines in fishing vessels. There are two types that could be in place virtually instantly with countries finally agreeing on a UNFCCC legally binding terms.
The first of which is the obvious choice for an immediate effect… Diesel electric propulsion.
The second which would be my choice is the full electric propulsion, but there are problems with, how do you get a charge when there is no sun. But work has been in place on Photovoltaic paint which when painted onto steel gives you an entire vessel collecting solar rays, rather than just a panel.
But research is ongoing… Maybe someone could mention this when in talks on reducing pollution of the obvious variaty and noise pollution which is a huge problem in the Mediterranean. And this is the area in which I am learning about.
