In case you did not know, it is the Year of the Tiger in Chinese astrology and as we love tigers here at WWF it is a natural fit for us to celebrate this year in a big way. What better way to celebrate the Year of the Tiger and show that we are prepared to take action on climate change than with the largest global people power event in history, Earth Hour.
Earth Hour is an event that everyone can get involved in by switching off their lights for an hour. On Saturday 27 March at 8.30pm lights will go out in homes, office buildings, town halls and public spaces across the globe as millions of people pledge their commitment to Earth Hour demonstrating that we can work together to resolve climate change.
Last year Earth Hour was one of largest global environmental events the world has ever seen and with over 4000 cities in over 88 countries switching off lights we are expecting 2010 to be the greatest show on Earth.
Earth Hour 2010 is the moment when people around the globe show they are prepared to work together to take action on climate change, which can also help us create new jobs and lead to a cleaner brighter future.
Already many cities, businesses and individuals are showing the way forward by changing their habits to reduce their impact on the environment and reaping the benefits of smarter cleaner living.
Earth Hour 2010 is showing leaders of the world that we are prepared to stand up and be counted and show leadership. We are saying we care about climate change and want to the world to work together to address it and move us towards a low carbon future.
Absolutely anyone can get involved and we hope for billions in 2010. So go now to Earth Hour.org site pledge your support to be part of the greatest show on Earth!
